Warzone 2 fans delighted with Modern Warfare 2 Ground War maps

All eyes are on the Modern Warfare 2 beta, but Warzone players are focused on the elements that will be present in Warzone 2.0, including the Ground War maps that will form Al Mazrah.

The second and final weekend of the Modern Warfare 2 beta kicked off on September 22 bringing along several new maps and modes to test out. Players will have access to the beta until September 26, when Modern Warfare 2 will disappear ahead of its October 28 release date.

It hasn’t taken long for Call of Duty enthusiasts to make interesting discoveries including a throwback easter egg on the Farm 18 map. It’s clear that Infinity Ward put a ton of attention to detail into designing Modern Warfare 2’s maps, and players are appreciative of this.

The same is true for the two Ground War maps also known as Battle Maps in the Modern Warfare 2 beta. Following the weekend two update, players could enjoy both the Sa’id and Sariff Bay maps.

Of course, the fact that Sa’id and Sariff Bay will form part of Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah map was not lost on Warzone players playing the Modern Warfare 2 beta. In fact, they expressed delight with the map designs and their potential to produce a stellar Warzone 2 experience.

Tylymiez took to the Warzone subreddit to explain why they feel the Ground War maps will make for great Warzone 2 gameplay. According to them, the urban landscape “makes for some excellent fights and vertical gameplay despite the area located on a pretty much level ground.”

They also praised the speed with which you can get around the map, seeing as this is a prominent concern for Warzone players. The one major issue seems to be the presence of enemy AI, which may function differently in Warzone.

Players in the comments were quick to share their stamp of approval: “Agreed. Really liking the overall tactical feel of the map and game. Honestly I think infinity ward should just straight up delete the AI in all modes.”

Although the early look into Warzone 2 at Call of Duty Next didn’t exactly inspire confidence, fans maintain that a well-designed map is the fundamental aspect of a successful battle royale: “There’s some significant issues with the UI and looting systems from what we’ve seen, but they can be adjusted over time. You can never truly fix a bad map though.”
